The Illinois Outdoor Hall of Fame is a program of the Illinois Conservation Foundation, the fundraising arm of the Illinois Department of Conservation. Ralph Frese of the Chicagoland Canoe Base was the 17th Illinois citizen to be inducted into the Illinois Hall of Fame since its inception in 2002, recognizing his life-long efforts in river preservation and restoration, the establishment of watertrails, historical canoe reenactments, and the recreational renaissance of travel by canoe in the state of Illinois. at the 2006 Illinois Outdoor Hall of Fame banquet in Moline, Illinois, he was also awarded recognition by the Indian Boundary District, Chicago Council, Boy Scouts of America, Scouters Association, for his efforts in promoting the use of the Canoe in Scouting programs locally. For these honors he is humbly grateful.
